CUPE 1306 put together an extensive set of Stewarding courses called the “Steward Learning Series”.  We identified at least 11 people in our various units in need of this very valuable 6 day (in total) series and were able to set up a 3-weekend set of classes right here in Peterborough over the next few months.  Alison Davidson will be one of the facilitators and Chris Lang will be assisting with all 13 courses over those weekends.  The courses were opened up to other CUPE locals and the limit of 25 participants was reached quickly, with another 10 on the waiting list.  This local opportunity will save us much needed education dollars as the courses are being offered free of charge by CUPE National and Ontario.
