About us

CUPE 1306 is a composite Local made up of municipal workers from 5 separate municipalities and employers covering a large geographical area from just north of Durham Region on Lake Ontario all the way north to Algonquin Park.  Our goal is to “pattern” our negotiations with each subsequent employer so as to increasingly benefit all members on an ongoing basis – a victory in Peterborough is a victory for those working up in Maynooth and vice-versa!  Together we stand strong and proud for all of our workers including every job profile from professionals in municipal planning, finance, IT and administration to public works and parks specialists to those tending to our municipal waste to make this planet and our communities cleaner and healthier!

With 627,000 members across Canada, CUPE represents workers in health care, education, municipalities, libraries, universities, social services, public utilities, transportation, emergency services and airlines.

We also have a strong history of supporting our communities and of supporting all of our brothers and sisters across the labour spectrum, both locally and internationally.  We are passionately committed to Stand Up For Fairness for all and welcome any individual or employee groups to discuss joining Local 1306!
